What makes a transformational gift possible?

In this conversation, Liz Reilly and Simon Pennington explore whether transformational gifts can really be planned, or whether organisations can only create the conditions in which they become possible.

They discuss the importance of big ideas, trusted relationships, confident leadership and long-term stewardship, and why the strongest gifts are often co-created rather than simply offered or accepted. They also consider how organisations can identify the right moment, involve donors in shaping what comes next and stay open to an outcome that may look different from the one first imagined.

What if one of an institution’s greatest assets is the place it belongs to?
