The God revealed in Scripture is more astounding than we could ever dream and more peculiar than we could ever imagine. Amazed and Perplexed is a podcast that engages the Bible earnestly and reverently as we grapple with that reality. In every episode, we strive to honor and give dignity to God and to the men and women of Scripture. Amazed and Perplexed is hosted by longtime friends Jason Thornton and Connor Bryant.

    𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲(𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟏𝟖:𝟏𝟖-𝟐𝟎)

Jesus makes a bold, almost startling promise: where two or three gather in his name, he's there, and whatever they agree on will be done. This episode sits with the weight and the danger of that claim, from the dignity it gives to small, ordinary moments of obedience to the hard question of what it means when heartfelt, unified prayer doesn't get the answer it asked for

This episode digs into dealing with Sin in the church. We discuss why the gentle, small first approach gets skipped in favor of shame and public callout, we wrestle with painful firsthand stories of disfellowship gone wrong, and reframe the passage's hard final line.
