Altitude is an anonymous historical monologue about one of the boldest figures in early aviation—a pioneering balloonist whose flights captivated Europe during the age of Napoleon.

Before airplanes, before modern flight, and before the sky became ordinary, this aviator rose into the air in a fragile balloon before thousands of spectators. Fame followed. So did official recognition, public expectation, dangerous aerial performances, and a growing belief that the sky was the only place freedom could be found.
