  • After Hours by The Weeknd - Album Club Year 4 Session 143
    2026/09/07

Save, your, tears for another day- because it's time for Album Club! where this week we listened to Jamil's "favourite album of all time" After Hours by The Weeknd! Listening to THE number one artist by popularity of today and perhaps all time thus far was a great learning experience for the Ziggies, especially as what many of us expected was a vapid pop album and not the macabre mind of The Weeknd which Scott and I had the pleasure to peek into at Universal's Horror Nights where I bought an ugly ass Weeknd T-shirt. Spooky vibes, 80's vibes abound, making this a great way for us to enter spooky season.

  • The Crane Wife by The Decemberists - Album Club Year 4 Session 142
    2026/08/31

Zak's here bringing fall vibes this week with his pick, The Crane Wife by The Decemberists, featuring the song Summersong and picked in October. Lots of dead women and tragedy in this one! The album's folky tunes and instrumentation bring campfire nights and melancholy rains to Zak's mind, and songs by The Decemberists are a staple in his fall playlist which he loves to play as he cruises past the colourful autumn leaves on his upstate New York drives. Join us for an Album Club filled with Parks and Rec lore for an album that's "constantly ending" according to Jamil.

  • T H E by Tricot - Album Club Year 4 Session 141
    2026/08/24

As I ventured Vietnam I was accompanied by the energetic yet chill music of Tricot's T H E, the debut album for this poppy Japanese math rock band! Tricot is one of my favourite bands, and this album is a decent introduction to who they are: playful, spirited, and sometimes a little melancholic. Though a little too "artsy" for Scott, it's a great album for different reasons to many people, like Mario Kart to some and sleeping to others.

  • Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown - Album Club Year 4 Session 140
    2026/08/17

A masterfully produced album that put its creator into debt, this week's listen was Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown, picked by GC! The album is filled with anxious energy and unconventional sounds in forms chill and energetic, making it a perfect example of a GC pick, quirked up man he is. Don't be psyched out by the intro like Zak was, who regretted starting to listen to the rest of the album so late into the week! While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, the album is great, especially in the dark, in the rain, or in a mood. With many major features and creative moves, there's a lot to find and love in this work of art. Tell me what I don't know.

  • CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway by CeeLo Green - Album Club Year 4 Session 139
    2026/08/10

Is that CeeLo Green? It finally is, with Iisha back as a guest, breaking their hiatus for this special moment. This album pick comes at perfect timing, just as Scott and I enjoyed a free CeeLo concert the week before where got a deeper understanding of the kind of person CeeLo is. The album itself is a collection of happy tunes that angered Zak, who wants CeeLo to suffer and we learned HATES children. Some of us just enjoyed the good vibes for what they were. We also learned some shocking truths behind CeeLo and the making of this album. Lots of shenanigans as usual- tune it and join the fun!

  • NO DREAM and S K A D R E A M by Jeff Rosenstock - Album Club Year 4 Session 138
    2026/08/03

This week, Scott is a cheater! Our boy picked TWO albums, NO DREAM and S K A D R E A M by Jeff Rosenstock, a punk-ish album and its ska cover by the artist himself. His reason? "Because I felt like it." Known by many fans on a first name basis, Jeff is a legend within his communities and makes, to quote Jamil who quoted GC, "quirked up white boy music." Zak, GC, and Bilal are fans of his work, GC and Bilal in fact having just attended a Jeff Rosenstock concert! Not only that, but Bilal's love for Jeff Rosenstock has brought him back from Album Club retirement as a special guest for this week's episode. Having two versions of an album was definitely a lot- especially when one was a ska mix- but it certainly gave us a lot to talk about.

  • Purple Rain by Prince - Album Club Year 4 Session 137
    2026/07/27

Classic upon classics! In this year of classics we've listened to many legends, and this week we listened to another one with Jamil's pick: Purple Rain, by Prince! The album oozes 80's, style, and sensuality, and features an impressively layered instrumental arrangement, intensely passionate vocals by Prince, and hints of its influences on many and even all music afterwards. Truly a lot to appreciate in this album, which is also a soundtrack to its movie Purple Rain which features, "quirky titties," to quote Zak.

  • PUNK TACTICS by Joey Valence & Brae - Album Club Year 4 Session 136
    2026/07/20

Zak must've been feeling like a punk this week because he chose PUNK TACTICS by Joey Valence & Brae, an energetic and fun album chock full of Beastie Boys sounds and 2010 era meme and culture references including everything from MLG memes to Star Wars. A GC inspired pick, PUNK TACTICS continues the high energy of this Ziggies summer and makes Scott want to commit crime (which he doesn't). Fun as hell goon music- check out for sure.
