On the coast of Nova Scotia, the light has to keep turning. Every forty-five minutes, someone climbs the tower stairs and checks the mechanism, because if the beam ever stops — if the tower ever goes quiet — something comes up out of the water. The keepers have known about it for generations. None of them ever wrote it down. Who would believe them?

When his uncle takes the boat out for supplies, a boy is left alone with the light, a pocket watch, and forty-five minutes between him and the dark. The wind dies. The gears go silent. And down on the rocks, something starts to climb.

Kimmy Lantern tells the story of the longest night on the Atlantic, and the boy who had to be brave with nobody watching.

    Recommended for ages 9–13.

Kimmy Lantern narrates a tense episode set in Canabáñas, Puerto Rico (1995), where 12-year-old Mateo and his sato dog Chispa face a terrifying midnight visitor. The island's frogs fall silent, goats panic, and strange two-legged prints and a crushed rain barrel point to something not quite human.

Alone with a kerosene lamp and his courage, Mateo holds the light against the creature and forces it back. A short, atmospheric tale about fear, the power of light, and the marks the night can leave behind. The night the coquis go quiet and something comes down from El Yunque. El Chupacabra.
