  • 252. HHN Hollywood: Cotton Candy People And Other Terrible Ideas
    2026/10/26

This week we wrap up Alicea's grand tour of Halloween events. Stranger Things is supposed to be a sure thing at Halloween Horror Nights, right? Not always. We’re fresh back from Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights, and we’re breaking down what actually worked, what fell flat, and what totally stole the night once we stepped into the fog.

We walk through the RIP Tour experience from the moment we check in: the lounge wait, the small group vibe, the buffet dinner, and the biggest reason we keep paying for it, guaranteed access to every haunted house without grinding through brutal standby lines. We also talk about why Hollywood HHN feels so different than Orlando, from the park’s steep hills and backlot layout to the exclusive Terror Tram. This year’s Terror Tram theme brings Art the Clown chaos to the studio lot, with gore-forward scenes and iconic stops like the Bates Motel area and the Psycho house.

Then we get into the haunted houses themselves, including a coast-to-coast comparison of shared houses like Stranger Things 5, Sinners, Hellraiser, Ozzy Osbourne and Evil Dead Burn. Hollywood surprises us in both directions: one headliner underwhelms, while Sinners becomes our best house of the night thanks to stronger staging, more live actors, and a scare we can’t stop talking about. We also hit Hollywood-only favorites like Killer Klowns From Outer Space and the quinceañera themed house with music by Slash, plus a quick look at scare zones, Fortnitemares, and even Death Eaters in Hogsmeade.

If you’re planning Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, this is your practical, honest guide to choosing a strategy and setting expectations. Subscribe for more theme park trip reports, share this with your favorite spooky-season friend, and please leave a rating and review. What’s the one HHN house you’d wait an hour for?

  • 251. Oogie Boogie Bash Breakdown
    2026/10/19

Oogie Boogie Bash sounds like “just another Halloween party” until you actually do it and realize Disney California Adventure turns into a full-park trick-or-treat dream. We’re fresh back from a sold-out night, and we’re breaking down what surprised us most: the intimate feel, the sheer number of treat trails, and how quickly that candy bag goes from “cute souvenir” to “why is my shoulder hurting.” If you love Disney Halloween events, this is the practical, on-the-ground trip report you want before you buy tickets.

We walk through our night from early entry and first rides to our treat trail game plan across Pixar Pier, San Fransokyo, Cars Land, and Avengers Campus. Along the way we talk character interactions that feel genuinely special, from Syndrome roasting guests to rare meet-and-greets like Judge Doom and Ernesto de la Cruz, plus the villain energy you only get at these hard-ticket events. We also share the moments that didn’t quite land, like missing the cavalcade when the route timing changed and how weather and crowds can shift your plans fast.

Then we get into the food and drink wins you should actually consider budgeting for, including the spicy Oogie Boogie burrito and a horchata whiskey cocktail, plus what’s worth skipping. Finally, we go deep on Villains Grove, the moody, light-and-sound enchanted forest that might be the most beautiful thing at the party if everyone lets the atmosphere do its job. We wrap by comparing Oogie Boogie Bash vs Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party so you can choose California for characters and candy or Florida for big spectacle entertainment.

If you like theme park strategy, Disney seasonal events, and honest planning advice, subscribe, share this with your Disney group chat, and leave us a review. Which party would you pick and why?

  • 250. DVC Resort Review: Disney's Polynesian Villas And Bungalows
    2026/10/12

A resort can be “close to Magic Kingdom,” or it can make you feel like you’ve escaped to somewhere else entirely. Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows somehow pulls off both, and for our 250th episode we go all-in on what makes the Poly such a fan favorite, from its opening day roots in 1971 to the big changes that brought DVC villas in 2015 and the new Island Tower in 2024.

We walk through the accommodations in plain language so you can actually choose the right fit: the spacious Deluxe Studios in the longhouses, the wildly iconic overwater bungalows with private decks and fireworks views, and the Island Tower lineup including Duo Studios, One-Bedroom Villas with full kitchens, larger two-bedroom options, and those top-floor penthouse villas. We also break down what “resort,” “preferred,” and “theme park” views mean in practice, plus the little design details that matter when you’re traveling as a couple or as a family.

Then we get practical with Disney Vacation Club points, contract timelines through 2066, and the basics you need for planning, like check-in times, parking, and why this is one of the best-connected resorts at Walt Disney World. We also cover the amenities that turn a park trip into a real vacation: pools, beach time on Seven Seas Lagoon, marina options, and those Island Tower lounges that double as prime viewing spots.

And yes, we spend time on the food, because the Polynesian dining bench is deep: Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe and Capt. Cook’s, ‘Ohana’s character breakfast and dinner feast, Wailulu Bar and Grill, and the legendary Trader Sam’s experience.

If you’ve stayed at the Polynesian, we want to hear your stories, and if you’re planning your first visit, tell us what’s calling your name. Subscribe, share, and leave a review so more Disney fans can find us.
