How can schools support the well being of their students? How do we create environments that foster belonging? In this episode of Pursuing the Public Good, Thomas Bailey, President of Teachers College, Columbia University interviews Dr. Mel Collier-Meek, Associate Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College and Dr. Claudia Fernandes, Vice President of Research and Evaluation at Born This Way Foundation. They discuss ways communities and educators can create the supportive spaces that children, and families, need. And they discuss the importance of schools not doing more, but by doing different things to improve student mental health.
