God knew where Adam was. So why ask, “Where are you?” What if that question is reaching you right now?
In “Adam, Where Are You?” Rabbi Damian Eisner explores Parashat Bereishit through a deeply personal challenge: Are you standing where God has asked you to stand?
Before Adam’s failure, there was responsibility. Before Moses encountered the burning bush, he saw suffering—and stepped forward. Drawing on Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Hillel, and Jewish wisdom, this Messianic Jewish teaching connects Genesis with the choices we make in our homes, relationships, and communities.
What has God entrusted to you? Are you explaining why someone else should act? When you say, “Someone ought to do something,” could you be the someone?
Explore ayekah—“Where are you?”—and hineni—“Here I am.” Consider your tafkid, your particular assignment, and why answering God doesn’t require having everything figured out.
You may not be ready for everything. You can still be present for what is in front of you.
Watch, then tell us in the comments: What is one responsibility you can stop postponing this week?
