Emerging from affinities with post-structuralism, abolitionism, biopolitics, communism, critical metaphysics, critical mysticism, and ontological anarchy, Acid Horizon is a philosophy and theory podcast committed to thought in motion and political struggle. While these are our grounding currents, each episode opens out onto a wider constellation: ethics, politics, phenomenology, decolonial thought, queer theory, post-psychoanalysis, disability/crip theory, anarchism, Marxism, feminism, and analyses of the emergence of the new right.

Comprised of a decentralized collective of friends and comrades, Acid Horizon cultivates a terrain of militant inquiry. From readings that span 20th-century French communism to new perspectives on German idealism, the collective has also undertaken forays into aesthetic experimentation, philosophical heresy, and the history of revolt. We seek the concepts and intensities that gesture toward new forms of life.

Acid Horizon pushes theory beyond the academy through live engagements, collaborative reading groups, and collective interventions.

Craig is joined by Bob Langan, and Jay Conway to read Michael Mann's film through The Logic of Sense, tracing how cop and criminal, attachment and discipline, hot and cold, resonate across the film's Los Angeles backdrop. Along the way we touch on the professional monasticism of the antagonists, Mann's other films, Deleuze's work on detective novels, and novelist Edward Bunker, whose life and work anchor Jay's forthcoming book on confinement and escape.

    What does it mean when even compliance with the demands of the neoliberal university no longer guarantees institutional legitimacy or security? As universities become increasingly governed through financial imperatives, visa regimes, managerial restructurings, and strategic repositioning, what forms of university life become impossible? What survives beyond them? If the university increasingly appears unable to sustain the conditions for collective intellectual life, where does study go? What forms of inquiry exceed the university, and what kinds of institutions – or anti-institutions – might emerge in its wake? To discuss the capitalisation of the university and the future of study, Adam C.
