Which raises an important question: Is having your mother as your sports agent a brilliant way to guarantee loyalty, or just an extremely efficient way to turn Thanksgiving dinner into contract arbitration?From there, Tom heads to the NBA and WNBA and the continuing fallout from the Sophie Cunningham foul, including Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White’s reaction and a press conference so nonsensical it sounded like someone dumped a box of corporate talking points into a blender and hit purée. Tom examines our increasingly bizarre inability to simply say what everybody just watched happen with their own eyes.
And somehow—because this is Reality Lab—all roads eventually lead to Casual Friday.
Tom traces the history of the seemingly innocent workplace tradition that helped loosen America’s definition of what constituted acceptable public attire. One minute we’re wearing suits to sell insurance; the next we’re boarding airplanes in pajama pants, Crocs, and a T-shirt from a 2007 Chili Cook-Off.

What connects college football, NIL money, sports agents, WNBA controversy, corporate doublespeak, and the slow death of the necktie?
Standards.

More specifically, what happens when we stop defending them because questioning anything has somehow become impolite.

Because accepting a lie doesn’t make you polite.

Sometimes it just makes you the asshole wearing sweatpants at a funeral.
