  • Week 4: We're Getting Closer to Fall Sports In Acadiana
    2026/08/28

The lights are about to flip on across Acadiana, and you can feel that familiar rush: jamborees, packed gyms, early-morning meets, and a whole lot of teams trying to figure out who they are before Week 1 even arrives. We set the table for fall sports with a simple mission we’re sticking to all season: celebrate the people behind the performances, especially the athletes and coaches who don’t always get the spotlight.

We check in on UL Ragin Cajuns cross country and what’s changed in the sport, from strength training and flexibility work to the surprisingly big impact of shoe technology. We also lay out key dates so fans can follow the season like a true roadmap, from the Texas A&M trip to Sun Belt and beyond. Then we bring on St. Thomas More offensive coordinator Shane Savoie for a smart, grounded football conversation about seven-on-seven, fall camp physicality, quarterback decision-making, and how great coaches build an offense around the pieces they actually have.

From jamboree weather and early scrimmage notes to volleyball realignment and new district battles, we keep it practical and local, with plenty of Acadiana high school football and Louisiana prep sports context. If you care about Friday Night Lights, volleyball districts, cross country start dates, and the stories that hold communities together, you’re in the right place. Subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review so more people find Acadiana sports coverage that goes deeper than the score.

  • Week 3 Acadiana Sports Network Podcast
    2026/08/21

Everybody can tell you who scored. We care about who mattered, and week three is where fall sports in Acadiana start to feel real. We open with UL Lafayette Fan Day buzz and what it’s like being up close with the coaches, players, Ragin’ Jazz, and the people who keep Cajun Nation moving. We also talk what we’re hearing about leadership, competition in position rooms, and why a quarterback who can lead through imperfect moments changes the ceiling of a season.

Then we head straight into the gym. Volleyball in Acadiana is loaded, and the early scrimmage scene already shows who’s sharp, who has depth, and who might surprise people once jamborees start. The heart of the show is our Coaches Corner with Westminster Opelousas head coaches Tonya and Keith Leon. They break down their summer plan, their senior-led culture, how they schedule up to prepare for the playoffs, and the standard they’ve built after multiple deep postseason runs.

We finish with Friday night football scrimmage talk, a reality check on the brutal Louisiana heat, and a fantasy football segment with Josh Thomas that gets honest fast: don’t panic-draft, know your league, build depth, and win your title during the season on waivers and smart moves. Saints fans, we see you too, and we talk how to draft with your head instead of your heart.

Subscribe, share the show with an Acadiana sports fan, and leave a quick review so more people can find the stories that don’t always make the headlines.

  • Week 2: LHSAA District Realignment Reshapes Football And Fall Sports Schedules Across Acadiana
    2026/08/14

A 15U group of Acadiana kids just climbed to the top of the country and brought home a national soccer championship, and the story is bigger than one trophy. We talk about how they pull players from multiple local high schools, why chemistry can be harder than talent, and what it says about the level of youth soccer and athlete development happening right here at home.

From there we lean into fall sports that deserve more attention. Charlie shares what he heard at St. Thomas More cross-country, where returning leaders are chasing a state title and traveling out of state to get battle-tested. Then we sit down with Lafayette High head coach Tim Lemaire, a UL runner and longtime coach, to get a real preview of his roster, the “trackflation” effect that’s changing winning times, and the unglamorous summer work that builds a season in Louisiana heat.

We also get practical with a topic every fan needs: LHSAA district realignment. We explain how the numbers work, why districts shift every two years, and where Acadiana teams landed across multiple classifications, with quick notes on coaches, key players, and districts that look especially tough. Finally, UL Ragin Cajuns volleyball head coach Kristi Gray joins us to talk maturity, transfers, schedule challenges, the push for 10,000 fans, and celebrating the program’s 50th anniversary.

Subscribe for weekly Acadiana sports coverage, share this with a friend who loves Friday nights and fall sports, and leave a review with the school or team you want us to spotlight next.
