Welcome back to SportsVoice with Mike Formisano for a Friday night update on the biggest stories heading into a packed football weekend.

Mike opens with the latest on Aaron Judge, who is heading back to the injured list with a right calf strain. With the Yankees already fighting to stay alive in the AL East race, Mike looks at what Judge’s absence could mean for the postseason and whether New York has enough offense to survive without its biggest bat.

From there, the focus turns to college football, with a preview of Saturday’s biggest matchups. Mike looks ahead to LSU–Ole Miss, Alabama–Florida State, Georgia–Arkansas, Ohio State–Kansas State and the rest of the Top 25 slate, including the revenge factor surrounding Lane Kiffin’s return against Ole Miss.

Mike also looks ahead to NFL Week 2, including Jets–Packers at MetLife Stadium, the Giants’ Monday night matchup with the Rams, and whether New York football fans could really be looking at two 2–0 teams.

Plus, a few quick notes from around baseball and basketball as the fall sports calendar continues to heat up.

Aaron Judge’s status has suddenly become one of the biggest stories in New York sports, college football has a loaded Saturday ahead, and NFL Week 2 is ready to take over the weekend.
