About APORIA: Space for the Unspoken

APORIA is a Greek word. It describes a kind of moment —

when you think you know something, and then discover you don't.

Not confusion. Something deeper than confusion: the first time you've truly stood in front of that thing.

You may have felt this —

reading a sentence, feeling something loosen inside you, and then nothing remains.

making a decision you can't explain, and that unexplainability never quite leaves.

watching an ordinary scene, feeling something deep move through you, and then it passes, and you go on with your life.

Those feelings are not a malfunction.

They are the things inside you that haven't yet been touched, trying to speak.

This is not an attempt to fully articulate them.

Only to leave a little space for what hasn't yet found its voice.

  • #131 You Have Perfected the Art of Looking Fine
    2026/10/07

The most underrated skill in the modern world is being honest about how you're doing. Not in public — in private. Not to an audience, but to yourself.

We've built a culture where the performance is always available and the truth is always optional. You can spend years polishing a feed, building a persona, refining an image. Meanwhile, the actual condition of your life — the hours no one sees, the tiredness, the quiet confusion — goes unaudited.

The real problem isn't that people fake it online. It's that the faking becomes the full-time job, and the living becomes a side gig.

Look at your week. Not your post history. Ask: where did the energy actually go? Answer that honestly and you'll know more about yourself than any comment section ever told you.

  • #130 You Have Been Studied but Not Once Answered
    2026/10/06

There is a particular satisfaction in naming another person's suffering — one rarely confessed but widely enjoyed. To attach a term to an agony is to place it outside yourself, where it can be examined without disturbing the examiner. The examiner sleeps well. The ager does not.

Consider how a conference becomes a refuge. People assemble to discuss the mechanics of despair precisely because discussion spares them the need to feel it. Each definition is a small betrayal dressed as sympathy. The question 'does writing this help?' received an answer about longitudinal study. That is not an answer. That is a retreat performed with excellent posture.

We should be honest about what such moments are: a collective decision that someone else's pain will remain exactly where it is, now with better documentation.
