Here’s more on what’s inside this week’s episode:

    • Runway Rehab at New Orleans, Review All NOTAMs

Some operators may permit visual approaches in the absence of Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) and Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI), when a published instrument approach is available.

Crews should be aware that the instrument approach to runway 29 may direct them towards the temporary displaced portion of the runway. Crews are reminded of the following:

    • Review all current NOTAMs and applicable approach procedures before operating into or out of KMSY.
    • Pay particular attention to displaced thresholds, available landing distance, and construction-related changes to the runway environment.
    • Exercise additional caution during nighttime and reduced-visibility operations.
    • Understand that ATC cannot issue an ILS clearance for runway 29 due to NOTAM 07/013, which indicates the ILS glidepath is unserviceable. (ATC can issue an LOC clearance).
