Growing up tall has taught me a thing or two (or maybe three) about embracing my individuality and finding the good things in what’s seemingly bad. And I’m here to spill the beans!

    If you’re a tall person listening to this right now, I’m sure you understand the feeling of constantly being around shorter people, whether it’s growing up with shorter friends and classmates, working in an environment of mainly shorter coworkers, or finding that many of your family members are shorter.

    Now, that’s not a bad thing, but it can certainly make us feel like the odd one out or insecure at times. But with the rise of tall specific groups and events, there are various opportunities to not feel that way.

    Today, I am joined by a founder of one of these groups. Tyiesha, one of the founders of Tall Addicts’ Society, is a guest on today’s podcast episode, where we’ll talk about the importance of community for tall people, if tall groups and tall events should be exclusive to tall people only, and an upcoming tall event in NYC.     Back pain is something a lot of tall people deal with at some point in their lives.

    I’m sure that if you’re a tall person listening to this right now, you get it.

    Whether it’s from sitting too long hunched over a laptop, or let’s say cutting vegetables on a lower countertop, or talking to shorter people, our backs definitely go through a lot. And the thing is with tall people, and also specifically tall women, the pressures, the posture issues, the everyday realities of a world that moreso caters to average height people can cause more than just pain and discomfort.

    It can even cause height loss. Yep, tall people are shrinking y’all.

    So in today’s episode, we’re talking about how health conditions and hormones, as well as posture, play a role in changes to our spine that may impact our height. Tune in for more!

    On this podcast, we often talk about the fetishization/sexualization of tall women.

    Like when weird people show up in our social media DMs asking for videos or pictures of our feet or long limbs.

    Or when folks express their fascination with our stature and want to be dominated by us.
    Or when people comment “death by snu snu” under our videos.

    Some people are just…weird.

    Listen. You do you. If that’s what you’re into, then go for it. But let’s be careful about what we say on the Internet and to strangers.

    Anyways, we often see this type of behavior happen to adult tall women, but what if I told you that younger tall girlies are also sexualized? Yup, we’re talking teens or preteens. It’s truly disheartening.

    So in today’s episode, we’re talking about the sexualization of young tall girls, how that affects their mental health and self-esteem into adulthood, and some important tips and reminders for parents of these tall girls. Tune in to the full episode for more!
