Benjamin Griffith is a Senior Actuary at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, a commercial property and casualty insurance subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. He specializes in reserving, the process of using mathematics and statistics to estimate the funds an insurer needs to set aside to pay outstanding and future claims. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics summa cum laude from the University of Colorado. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Benjamin moved to New York City about ten years ago for the job he currently holds. He attends Church of the City New York where he met his wife, Raegan. He serves in the church as a worship leader in the Youth Ministry, helping build a culture of worship among the youth and mentoring student worshippers. He is also a community group leader and volunteer coordinator for New York City Love Kitchen, a mobile food pantry serving New Yorkers in Harlem. In his spare time, he loves to read books, write creatively, listen to music, knit sweaters, play board games, and spend time outdoors. He's an amateur New York backyard gardener and a soon-to-be girl dad!
Recorded at the CVM Vocational Mission Forum on Oct 03, 2026.
