    Nell has been haunted her entire life by a ghost with a broken neck, a presence that follows her from Hill House into adulthood. Seeking relief, she turns to sleep paralysis treatment, where she meets Arthur, falls in love, and briefly finds something resembling peace. That fragile calm shatters when the Bent-Neck Lady returns with renewed certainty.
