Grace isn’t fair. Period. And thank God it isn’t! Jonah absolutely did not want God to show any sort of grace or compassion to the people of Nineveh – they didn’t deserve it! The Lord called Jonah out on his self-pity and hypocrisy. Still Jonah complained, even to the end! The parable Jesus told is another example of just how unfair grace is and the seemingly backward ways in which God works (backward from our human vantage point). We’ll consider why we need to be thankful that grace is not fair – and then figure out how we can be similarly “unfair” in the lives we live for others!

Old Testament Reading: Jonah 3:10-4:11
Epistle Readings: Philippians 1:21-30
Gospel Reading: Matthew 20:1-16
Sermon Title: “The Face of Grace: It’s Not Fair!”
