All three readings for this Sunday speak to the critical importance of forgiveness, in particular as it’s tied into relationships. From Joseph and his brothers at the end of Genesis and the assurance of how God uses all things for good, to Paul’s question of why we judge each other and treat each other with contempt, to the Gospel and Peter asking how many times he’s supposed to forgive the person who sins against him, all of this ties together when it comes to how we live together under grace. We know it starts with Jesus and the forgiveness we receive from Him, coupled with the relationship into which we’ve been called. But then it pushes beyond the gift we’ve received to how important it is for us to share that same gift in our relationships.
