Thursday, October 22nd: In Episode 873 of The Daily Grind, John turns to Luke 23:32–43 and Jesus’ astonishing prayer from the cross: “Father, forgive them.” Surrounded by mockery, injustice, and violence, Jesus responds with mercy rather than hatred. His prayer does not minimize evil; it entrusts justice to the Father while refusing to let cruelty determine His response. One of the criminals beside Jesus recognizes his guilt and asks to be remembered, and Jesus promises him paradise. At the cross, forgiveness is offered to enemies and hope is extended to the guilty. This episode challenges us to follow Jesus by speaking truth, setting wise boundaries, and refusing to allow bitterness to rule our hearts.
