SCRIPTURE AND MIND RENEWAL Genesis 2 shows that rest was part of God’s design from the beginning. God did not rest because He was depleted. He ceased from His completed work and established a rhythm of work and rest within creation. In Matthew 11:28–29, Jesus invites weary and burdened people to come to Him, take His yoke, and learn from Him. He does not promise a life without responsibility. He offers a different way to carry responsibility under His leadership and in relationship with Him. Mind renewal helps us recognize the beliefs beneath our patterns. When the Holy Spirit brings an old belief about rest to the surface, we can ask whether it agrees with God’s truth and the way He designed us to live.
YOUR RENEWAL PRACTICE: THE REST AUDIT Consider three areas of rest:
- Physical rest: Where might your body be asking for greater care or recovery?
- Soul rest: What thoughts, emotions, or sources of input may be keeping your internal engine revving?
- Spiritual rest: Where might God be inviting you to receive from Him and depend on Him more deeply?
