The homeowner had family over, was understandably upset, and told her to leave. When we looked into it, she really had emailed us the day before to cancel, but the one person who normally checked that inbox happened to be out of the office, and nobody else thought to look.

That wasn't a story about a bad employee. It was a story about a system that only worked if the right person remembered to check it. In this episode I break down why a system that depends on someone remembering isn't reliable, and how I built systems that don't rely on memory using one simple tool.
