In this episode of Think Wedding Business, we’re joined by Laura & Pete Lawson of Lawson Films to talk about launching the British Wedding Film Festival; a brand new awards platform designed to celebrate wedding filmmaking differently.
After years of entering (and winning) traditional awards, the Lawsons, along with Jeff Wood and Joce of Lune de Miel Studio, saw a gap.
So they created an awards system inspired by the likes of the Oscars. Recognising different elements of a film, from storytelling to sound design, and giving more filmmakers a chance to be celebrated.
We dive into:
- Why they felt the industry needed something new
- The reality of awards, judging, and industry pressure
- Dealing with criticism when you put yourself out there
- The vision for turning the festival into a huge industry event
- And what this means for the future of wedding videography

Each episode we will be chatting to different wedding entrepreneurs across every aspect of the industry, so stay tuned for more, & if there's any suppliers you'd love us to interview, please let us know!
And remember... Think Wedding Business.
