CMS Superintendent Crystal Hill has been cleared — no misuse of federal funds, no hostile work environment, no vendor conflicts, no violation of board policy or law. The outside law firm billed at least $379,000 through July, and the work ran past July, so that's a floor, not a total. Hill still has not been given the detailed allegations against her and has not seen the full report; the board is withholding it under attorney-client privilege. The summary the board promised by September 30 is scoped to process, lessons learned and governance improvements — not findings. Also: a CMPD officer was shot early this morning on Enderly Road in west Charlotte and is in stable condition, with the suspect still at large. City Council votes Monday on extending the data center moratorium another nine months, with staff citing unresolved air pollution monitoring and noise limits. Plus Port Coffee Co. is open in South End, and the Yiasou Greek Festival runs Friday through Sunday.
