Why do bad things happen to good people? Where is God when life falls apart? And can we still trust Him when we don't understand what He is doing?

This week on Come, Follow Me Moms, we're diving into the story of Job—and this one is for anyone who has ever found themselves asking God, “Why?”

Job was a righteous man who loved God, and yet he experienced unimaginable loss. He lost his wealth, his health, and most devastatingly, his children. His friends misunderstood him. He questioned. He grieved. He wondered where God was.

And yet, in the middle of his suffering—not after everything was fixed—Job declared:

“Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” — Job 13:15

And:

“I know that my redeemer liveth.” — Job 19:25

That is what we're talking about this week.

We'll dig into what Job's story teaches us about trusting God when life doesn't make sense, asking God the hard questions, sitting with people in their grief instead of trying to explain it, and recognizing that suffering does not mean God has abandoned us.

We'll also talk about Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin's message “Come What May, and Love It” and what it means to keep choosing God through the unexpected, painful, and difficult parts of mortality.

One of my biggest takeaways this week is this:

You don't have to know WHY when you know WHO.

You may not understand this chapter of your life. You may still be waiting for an answer. You may be living through something you never would have chosen.

But you can still know your Redeemer.

You can still bring God your questions.

You can still say, “Heavenly Father, I am trying.”

And you can trust that your suffering does not get the final word.

Because of Jesus Christ, God does.

🩷 Question to ponder this week: Think of one chapter of your life you would never choose to relive. Where was God in that story?

And then ask yourself:

Where might He be in the story you're living right now—even if you can't see Him yet?
