Today I am bringing on Dr Maree Davies on to talk about social media content that may or may not be true. Fake news, manipulative content and the importance of raising your teenage daughter to be a critical thinker.
Senior Lecturer Maree Davies's teaching and research interests focus on all aspects of teenagers, particularly within the contexts of social media. She has a particular interest in promoting critical thinking to be accessible for all teenagers through peer-to-peer talk, and supportive talk with adults. She has recently developed a critical thinking talk model called Street Smarts, which includes opportunities for teenagers to share their street experiences and stories, whilst maintaining the rigour of the cognitive, ethical and metacognitive aspects of critical thinking.
