On May 5, 1976, Interview With the Vampire hit bookstores for the first time. Author Anne Rice likely didn't know what a hit she had in her debut novel but it redefined our view of vampires.

Born and raised in New Orleans to a devout Catholic family, Anne was influenced by the supernatural aura of the Crescent City. Her active imagination influenced the stories she wrote from early childhood and the 1936 film Dracula's Daughter sparked her interest in vampires. Throughout the years she decided to try writing vampires.

Anne was a genre defining talent that became a household name. Throughout her stellar career, Anne wrote 15 novels for The Vampire Chronicles and sold over 100 million books. Most stunning of all, she transmuted her grief and pain into books that helped her heal.

Come along with us as we discuss Anne Rice's life, vampire lore, and our favorite Lestats in our second Halloween episode through history and astrology!

This episode contains mentions of child loss and alcoholism.
