Before you pick up that phone and start dialing, you need to get your mind right. You need to be laser focused, in the zone, ready to deliver results. Sales calls are your game time - treat them that way.
First, you need to master your pitch. Whatever you're selling, you need to know your scripts backwards and forwards. Practice your opening, your objections, your close. Recite it in the mirror, record yourself and listen back, role play with someone - do whatever it takes until that pitch flows naturally. You need to reach the point where you don't have to think about what you're saying, you just say it. That mastery will give you the confidence you need to land the deal.
Second, visualize success. Look at your dream board, your vision book, online dream photo album, whatever you want to call it. Surround yourself with images of what you want - the car, the house, the vacations. Imagine your goals as already completed. Take it a step further and photoshop yourself into those vacation photos, adjust your bank statements to show the income you want. When you see your dreams as reality, you program your mind to make them happen.
Those two things - mastery of your pitch and visualizing success - are vital preparation before you start dialing for dollars. Do them before every call. Get your mindset right, get yourself in that peak sales state of mind. Follow this advice and watch your numbers climb. Now get out there and start closing.
