🏈 Football Glory Days, Fundraising Fails & Church Hurt

This week on 2 Christian Rednecks, we’re taking a trip back to the glory days—when we were younger, faster, tougher, and, according to our memories, probably just one scout away from the NFL. 🏈 We’re reminiscing about our football days, the big hits, the good times, and the stories that somehow get better every year.

Then it’s time for another Funny Church PSA! This week’s public service announcement tackles non-church fundraising. Before you corner your church family with another catalog, raffle, cookie dough order form, or request to sponsor something—we’ve got a few things we need to discuss. 😂

But after the laughs, we get into something much more serious:

    Church Hurt.

Church is supposed to be a place where broken people find hope, community, truth, and Jesus. But because churches are filled with imperfect people, sometimes the place that should help us heal becomes the place where we get hurt.

We break down three major causes of church hurt:

    1. Unrealistic Expectations — What happens when we expect pastors, leaders, or other Christians to be something they were never capable of being?

    2. Gossip, Judgment & Conflict — How careless words, unresolved disagreements, cliques, and condemnation can leave wounds that last long after someone walks out the church doors.

    3. Leadership Failures & Misuse of Authority — What happens when spiritual leadership becomes controlling, prideful, dismissive, or fails to handle people with biblical accountability and grace?

More importantly, we talk about how to avoid causing church hurt, how to respond when it happens, and how to begin healing from it.

Because being hurt by church people doesn't mean you have to walk away from Jesus.

Sometimes healing starts by remembering that people will fail us—but Christ never will.

So grab your Bible, your coffee, and maybe your old football highlight reel that nobody asked to see.

It’s football, fundraising, faith, forgiveness, and a conversation the Church needs to have—all on this episode of 2 Christian Rednecks.

🎙️ Real faith. Real life. Two Christian Rednecks.

  • Breakfast Burrito of Faith
    2026/08/26

In this episode of 2 Christian Rednecks, we’re serving up a Breakfast Burrito of Faith—because sometimes the Gospel just makes more sense wrapped in a tortilla.

We break down how the simple ingredients of a breakfast burrito can remind us of some powerful biblical truths: eggs represent the new life we have in Christ, bacon reminds us that God provides, cheese points to God’s blessing, and salsa brings the fire of the Holy Spirit. Then we wrap it all up in the tortilla—the goodness of God that surrounds us and holds everything together.

Psalm 34:8 says, “O taste and see that the LORD is good.” Faith isn’t supposed to be something we only hear about on Sunday morning. We’re called to experience God’s goodness, walk in His provision, recognize His blessings, and carry the fire of the Holy Spirit everywhere we go.

So grab some coffee, fry up some bacon, and join 2 Christian Rednecks as we put it all together.

Eat it. Enjoy it. Live it. Share it. Jesus!

    📖 Scriptures: Psalm 34:8 • 2 Corinthians 5:17 • Philippians 4:19 • Proverbs 10:22 • Acts 2:3–4

  • Turn the other Cheek
    2026/08/20

What does Jesus really mean when He says, “Turn the other cheek” in Matthew 5:39?

For years, this verse has been used to suggest that Christians should simply accept mistreatment, never defend themselves, and remain silent when confronted with evil. But is that actually what Jesus was teaching?

In this episode, we dig into the cultural and biblical context of Matthew 5:39 and examine the difference between revenge, justice, forgiveness, and self-defense. We’ll talk about why Jesus specifically mentioned the right cheek, what His original audience would have understood, and how Jesus Himself responded when He was struck.

Turning the other cheek isn't about being weak or becoming someone's doormat. It's about refusing to let another person's sin dictate your response.

No revenge. No surrendering your convictions. No becoming like the person who wronged you.

It’s time to take another look at one of the most misunderstood teachings of Jesus.
