Before light, matter, space, and even before time itself, what was there?

In Part 1 of this seven-part journey through the Book of Genesis, humanities professor Dr. David Hopkins ventures beyond human understanding to explore one of the most powerful sentences ever written: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

What does the Genesis creation story reveal about God, consciousness, language, human dignity, and the nature of existence? How does it relate to the Big Bang and modern science? Why does God create through speech, establish boundaries, and call creation good? What happens when humanity’s creative power—especially through artificial intelligence—advances faster than its wisdom?

From Genesis 1 to the Logos of John’s Gospel, this episode examines the Bible’s astonishing claim: the God who created the world ultimately entered it. Whether you are a Christian, an atheist, an agnostic, or still searching, this episode invites you to encounter Genesis not as a children’s story or a scientific textbook, but as a profound exploration of what it means to be human.

The story of humanity begins here...before the beginning of time.
