Randi Goldberg's story is one of tenacity, reinvention, and a genuine gift for connecting with people. Now at Mile High Modern in Denver, Randi was one of the first people to welcome me into this industry, and her path here is anything but a straight line. She grew up in Rockland County, New York, a thoughtful and assertive kid who loved books, art, and her bike, and who always seemed to take the reins.
Chasing sunshine, she headed to Arizona State and studied biology with a pre-med track, drawn to the challenge of understanding the human body. That plan ended when a family member's illness revealed a powerful fear of hospitals, and Randi pivoted into retail management instead. There she discovered a knack for reading people and energy, becoming the company's go-to fixer for failing stores, diagnosing what was wrong and rebuilding teams from the ground up. She was on the verge of launching her own shop when a relationship brought her to Colorado at the end of 2004.
Searching for a Monday-through-Friday career and encouraged by a real estate uncle and a grandmother who insisted she had the "Goldberg gift of gab," Randi got licensed and dove in. The early years meant juggling three jobs, learning the inventory inside and out, and a defining lesson in relying on no one but herself. She built a thriving niche sourcing deals for investors, but came to realize that the part that truly fulfills her is caring for regular clients and taking them under her wing.
In this episode, Randi opens up about hustle and resilience, why she recharges through people rather than solitude, her love of travel to far-flung places, and how she stays optimistic while so much of the industry gets caught in what she calls the Chicken Little effect. Above all, it's a conversation about energy, connection, and a truth she carries with her: the energy you put out will either draw people in or push them away.
And Randi's story… starts now!
