What does it really take to turn a vision into something real?
In this special episode of Yes Mujer Build It, I’m taking you behind the scenes of Yes Mujer You Can, my first large live event created specifically for Latinas. From the original vision I had more than 25 years ago to standing in a room with 150 powerful Latinas and WOC, I’m sharing what it actually took to bring this transformational event to life.
This experience taught me a lot about leadership, entrepreneurship, vision, rejection, teamwork, courage, and trusting yourself. It also reminded me why creating spaces where Latinas can connect, support each other, and experience transformation matters so much to me.
In this episode, I share:
- Why I created Yes Mujer You Can and the vision that started more than 25 years ago
- What I learned about leadership and building a team
- Why you have to hold onto your vision, even when things don't go as planned
- How to move through rejection and misalignment
- Why you need to trust your team instead of micromanaging
- How I used my own anger, frustration, and pain as fuel to create something meaningful
The 4 Lessons I Learned
1. Not everybody is going to do what they say they're going to do.
Don't spend too much energy around the people you can't count on. Move on to finding the people you can count on.
2. Hold onto the vision.
Be in relationship with your idea. See it, visualize it, feel it, and keep coming back to the vision when doubt and fear show up.
3. You will get rejected.
Not everyone is going to understand your vision or want to be part of what you're building. Rejection is part of the game.
4. Trust your team.
Don't just delegate. Trust that your team is going to figure it out, give people space to do their work, and be clear about everyone's roles and priorities.
This episode is for the woman with a big vision, the entrepreneur building something new, the leader learning to trust her team, and anyone who needs a reminder that you don't have to know exactly how you're going to make the vision happen before you begin.
And ultimately, this is why I wanted to create Yes Mujer You Can: a space where Latinas could come together, connect, support one another, and experience transformation without judgment or competition.
