It's Cregger time! Join BP, Coop and Justin as we dissect and analyse everything about the 2026 Resident Evil Reboot starring Austin Abrams.

The reboot was written by Shay Hatten and Zach Cregger and directed by Cregger who of course rose to acclaim with Weapons and Barbarian and as you all know my cohosts absolutely loved Weapons and think it’s the great horror movie of all time but all jokes aside, there’s no doubt Weapons and Barbarian have propelled Zach Cregger to the top of the most in-demand directors in the horror space.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Resident Evil film series, this new instalment is technically the eighth feature in the series and to take it back to the beginning, it all started with the 2002 original starring Milla Jovavich which led to 5 sequels between 2004 - 2016 including Apocalypse, Extinction, Afterlife, Retribution and The Final Chapter better known as Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive, just kidding, we all know ‘The Final Chapter’ is never ever the final chapter, especially looking at Friday the 13th, SAW, Final Destination etc. but any way after 6 film instalments, the film series was rebooted on Netflix with a much hated 7th film titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and a TV Series which I forgot happened.

Following the abysmal failure of Netflix’s resident evil film TV series, the 2026 reboot is a stand-alone story that takes elements of the entire Resident Evil game series in an act of fan service that will delight many horror fans but may anger some of the hardcore resident evil fans.
