You don't need a fortune to make a difference in Humboldt—and a local gift can keep helping long after it's given. Sara Dronkers, CEO of Humboldt Area Foundation, joins Scott Hammond to explain how more than 900 funds turn donations into scholarships, nonprofit support, and lasting investment in the region. From donors giving $5 a month to disaster response and the Klamath River Fund, she shares how the foundation connects generosity with community needs across Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, and Curry counties. Sara also reflects on her 24-year journey from an entry-level finance role to CEO, her service at College of the Redwoods, and why showing up locally matters when the wider world feels out of control.
