For once, everybody is happy.

The Jets and Giants both open the season with wins, giving New York football fans something they haven't had much of lately: optimism.

We break down the Jets' win over Tennessee, Breece Hall's big day, what Geno Smith gave the offense and why LeeJay refuses to overreact after one game. Then we turn to the Giants, where Jackson Dart looked comfortable, the running game controlled the night and the entire team suddenly looked tougher, smarter and more organized. Erik comes away especially encouraged by the Giants finally looking like a team with a clear identity under its head coach, although 10 penalties and concerns in the secondary give us plenty to argue about.

Around the NFL, we ask whether Week 1 changed the way we should look at some supposedly impossible matchups, LeeJay wonders how much longer Justin Herbert gets the benefit of the doubt, and Will makes the case that the Arch Manning hype may have gotten ahead of the actual player.

Plus: Regents exam trauma, what schools should actually teach, a little Nets and Mets talk, and our Mt. Rushmore of stadium anthems.
