"What if this happens? What if something goes wrong? What if i make the wrong decision?"

As moms, it can be so easy for one small worry to send our minds spiraling toward the worse-case scenario. Whether it's our kids, health, finances, relationships, or decisions, fear can convince us that if we just think through every possible outcome, maybe we can somehow stay in control.

In this 10-Min Reset, we're talking about the difference between wisdom and fear, responsibility and control, and what it looks like to come back to the grace God has given us for today. We don't have to carry tomorrow's troubles before they arrive. Instead, we can trust the character of the One who already holds tomorrow.

In this episode...

  • Why motherhood can make it so east to jump to worse-case scenario.
  • The difference between being wise and being controlled by fear.
  • How worrying can disguise itself as preparation or responsibility.
  • Why our desire to know every possible outcome is often really a desire for control.
  • What Jesus means when he tells us not to worry about tomorrow.
  • The :daily bread" reminder that God gives us the grace we need for today
  • Why living mentally in a future that hasn't happened can leave us anxious.
  • The comfort of knowing God doesn't promise a life without valleys-- He promises His presence in them.
  • How to change our "what if?" thoughts to "even if" declarations of trust.
  • Why trusting God doesn't require understanding the outcome.
  • The simple question that can interrupt a spiral:

    "What is true right now?"

What you'll learn...

  • When fear starts taking your mind into an imaginary future, you can come back to what God has actually given you today.
  • Start by naming the fear: "What am i actually afraid of? What am i afraid of losing?" Bring it honestly before God and ask whether there is something He is asking you to faithfully do today.
    • Then surrender the rest.
  • Our hope isn't that the worse-case scenario could never happen. Our hope is that whatever happens, God will be with us. His presence-- not our ability to predict or control the outcome-- is our security.
  • Instead of asking: "What is this happens?" we can begin praying: "Even if this happens, God, You will will be with me. You will still be good. And you will give me the grace i need when i need it."
  • Come back to today. Come back to what is true. Come back to God's character and goodness. And trust Him with everything that is outside of your control.
