Today’s reading brings us back to 1 John 5, where John closes his letter with certainty. The Son has come, He gives us understanding, and those who belong to Him are not merely believing facts about Jesus—they are united to Him. His life becomes our life, His Father becomes our Father, and His future becomes our future. Jesus is not simply the giver of eternal life; He is eternal life.
Then John ends with one final warning: “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” An idol is anything we ask to provide what only Jesus possesses—identity, security, meaning, peace, purpose, or fulfillment. So today, read 1 John 5 and hold tightly to the true God: eternal life has come in Jesus, so do not trade Him for something that can never give you what only He possesses.
