J. Allen Cross, also known as Oregon Wood Witch on social media, is a folk magician, a teacher, & a paranormal investigator.
He cohosts the podcast 'Invoking Witchcraft', & he is also the author of 'AMERICAN BRUJERIA: Modern Mexican American Folk Magic' - available today (May 1, 2021)!!!
J's book is a compendium of magical traditions kept alive among Mexican-American communities - a unique blend of folk magic & esoteric Catholicism estranged from both traditional Mexican witchcraft & mainstream Catholicism - which he has come to call 'American brujeria'.
In today's conversation, J generously explains some common American brujeria practices, as well as his own magical origin story, his devotion to Guadalupe, & his theories about the nature of God & sin.
