In this lesson, we examine the life of King Sha’ul and the events that led to a serious spiritual change:

“And the Spirit of יהוה turned aside from Sha’ul, and an evil spirit from יהוה troubled him.” — 1 Shamuel 16:14

The evil spirit did not appear without a history.

Before 1 Shamuel 16:14, Scripture shows a pattern developing in Sha’ul’s life. He repeatedly disobeyed the commands of יהוה, feared the people, listened to their voice, justified his actions, and rejected the Word of יהוה.

We will follow the progression:

Disobedience → Wrong Voice → Rejected Word → Rejection → Spirit of יהוה Turns Aside → Evil Spirit Troubles Sha’ul

What decisions and actions can create an environment for the wrong spiritual influence to operate in your life?
