More data does not automatically lead to better decisions. The numbers matter, but somebody still has to decide what they mean.

What they thought was wrong:
They thought the answer was in the dashboard. More reports, more analytics, more metrics, more research, more AI, more data. If they could just see enough, the right decision would become obvious.

What everyone missed:
Information does not interpret itself. Traffic can fall, conversion can decline, engagement can increase, and customer behavior can shift, but none of those numbers explains why on its own. The same data can support very different conclusions depending on context, pattern, comparison, and judgment.

What changed:
The focus shifted from collecting more information to interpreting what the evidence actually meant. What changed? Is it a trend or an anomaly? What is the pattern? What does the market support? What is the likely cause? And most important, what decision should change because of what we learned?

Why it matters:
Information describes reality. Intelligence interprets it. Strategy makes a choice. A dashboard can show you what happened, but it cannot automatically tell you what to do next. The competitive advantage is not having more information than everyone else. It is seeing what others are looking at and understanding what it means before they do.
