This episode of our after-hours radio begins with Sebire refusing to accept that Witch Hat Atelier has really come to an end.
“What am I supposed to live for starting next week?”
From the heartbreak of losing a weekly source of joy, the conversation moves on to how many years we’re willing to wait for the next season, the proper way to slap the person sitting next to you when you get too excited about something you love, and whether someone has what it takes to be “Sebire-compatible.”
…or at least, that’s where we thought the conversation was going.
One mention of khao man gai sends us spiraling into world cuisine, traditional Danish food, terrible geography grades, and the art of sleeping through class without getting caught.
And finally, we return to a legendary quote from the previous episode:
“We were born from gratitude.”
After taking this idea far more seriously than we should have, we discover that Sebire’s origin story somehow involves an entire collection of regional Japanese sweets.
It’s 2 a.m.
From grieving the end of an anime to questioning what exactly Sebire was born from, tonight’s conversation once again creates more lore than anyone asked for.
