Is Michael Jackson’s Bad actually better than Thriller?

Duran Duran making “serious” music? 🤔

The connection between the Editors album and The Terminator… really?! 😂

And The Golden Leaves… never heard of them before, but would Mike and I ever listen to them again?

These were just SOME of the questions, opinions, disagreements and surprises we got into.

And my word… what an hour and 15 minutes it was! 🎶🎙️

Albums by Queens of the Stone Age, The Power Station, Chris Rea, RJ & the Painful Memories, Fleet Foxes, Sex Pistols, The Imagined Village and Ryan Adams were scrutinised, listened to, reviewed, disagreed over, loved, enjoyed… and, in a few cases, pleasantly surprised by Mike and Richard!

This was one of those episodes where we both felt we could have carried on talking for hours! 😂

But which one of us had NEVER heard the Sex Pistols album before? 😲

Which one of us was really impressed by an album that resonated with his feelings at a particular time?

And which one of us described an album as:

“A collection of guitar-driven, fast rock, with a bass that reminded me a bit of The Stray Cats…” 🎸

This episode of “You Made Me Listen To This” was, to be honest, one where Mike and I really had to dig deep and give some properly honest opinions. 😬🎧

Not only were we challenging each other with albums, and we had YOU, again, the general public, throwing some musical curveballs our way… and we started wondering whether some of you were deliberately trying to push our ears to their absolute limits! 😂

Mike listens a lot while he’s driving, while I tend to do my listening while out on the bike 🚴‍♂️🎶 — so when we finally met up, there were plenty of smirks, laughs, probably a few choice words, some genuine surprises and memories from the past suddenly coming flooding back.

But most importantly… we enjoyed it!
