There’s a popular belief in certain dating spaces that men should stay away from women who grew up without fathers. They’re too independent. They don’t respect men. They don’t know how to be in healthy relationships.
But how much of that is actually true—and how much of it is just lazy dating advice?
I start this episode with my own experience dating a woman who didn’t have her father in her life, then dig into the bigger conversation about how our relationships with our parents can shape the way we love, communicate, respect, and respond to our partners.
Because having a father doesn’t automatically make someone a better partner. Not having one doesn’t automatically make someone a bad one.
Maybe the question isn’t whether her father was there.
Maybe the question is: What did she learn from the relationships she grew up around—and what has she done with it?
