The diaspora discussion is back, and this time, we're getting into the conversation!

After a recent clip featuring Davincii on the Cam Newton podcast reignited tensions across the Black diaspora, we're unpacking the reactions, the disagreements, and the bigger questions surrounding African and African American identity, history, and cultural contributions.

Christine and Sahra of Ladies of SOSA are joined by Calvin Ford of the Blvck Ice Podcast, who identifies as FBA (Foundational Black Americans), for an honest conversation about the issues that continue to spark debate between Africans and African Americans.

Who has contributed what to the global Black experience? Do Africans fully recognize the impact of Black American history and culture? Are African Americans given enough exposure to African history and cultures? And why do conversations about our differences so often turn into competition?

We explore the tensions, challenge stereotypes, and discuss whether social media is helping us understand one another or pushing us further apart. We also get into the importance of recognizing our different histories and experiences without diminishing what each community brings to the table.

But the conversation doesn't stop at identity and culture. With the midterm elections approaching, we also discuss the Black vote, political engagement, and the issues shaping conversations within Black communities in America.

IN THIS EPISODE:
🌍 The Davincii clip that reignited the diaspora debate
🇺🇸 What does FBA (Foundational Black American) identity mean?
🔥 African vs. African American tensions: where do they come from?
🎶 Black American cultural influence and African contributions
🗣️ History, identity, stereotypes, and social media
🤝 Can Africans and African Americans build greater understanding and solidarity?
🗳️ The midterms, the Black vote, and political engagement

This isn't about declaring a winner or deciding which community has contributed more. It's about asking difficult questions, hearing different perspectives, and understanding the histories that shape how we see one another.

Now we want to hear from YOU! 👇🏾

Do you think Africans should do more to acknowledge Black American contributions to the diaspora? Do African Americans have a responsibility to learn more about African history and culture? And what role should shared identity play when our experiences are so different?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. Keep it honest, keep it respectful, and let's have the conversation.
