So I finally sat down and watched the Mario Galaxy movie, and I’m not gonna lie… it’s not as bad as people are saying.

But at the same time, coming off the 2023 Mario Movie, this definitely feels like a cooler step down.

This one leans way more into fan service and Easter eggs, which is cool if you’re already deep into Mario, but as an actual movie, it doesn’t always hit the same. Fox basically stepping into Donkey Kong’s role, Rosalina barely being used, and Bowser Jr. moving like he didn’t even need Bowser half the time.

Nintendo might’ve just made a huge mistake…With the Super Mario Galaxy movie right around the corner, they just CONFIRMED Star Fox (Fox McCloud) is in it… and honestly? That might’ve been something better left as a surprise.

Instead of a crazy theater reaction moment, now we’re all walking in wondering how big his role is, how long he’s in it, and whether he actually matters to the story.

Did Nintendo just raise expectations way too high for a character that could’ve had a perfect surprise cameo?

Instead of taking the time to tell a fully developed story, the film feels rushed, shallow, and way more interested in riding momentum than doing the material justice.
