If you used to go to church but don’t any more, or you know someone like that, this book is for you. Jesus promised, “Where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them" (Matthew 18:20). Writing in a positive, friendly, engaging style, the author encourages you to claim that promise and experience that presence, and walks you through it with practical how-to advice.
Part One looks at how the joyful, empowering gatherings of Jesus followers in Bible times became the institutional church of today. Part Two describes how any small group of friends in a living room can re-create the New Testament model of Christian gatherings, and experience the love and power that turned the world upside down. Appendices give overviews of how to prepare a message, and recognizing potential problems.
If church has stopped working for you but your spirit knows something is missing, God may be calling you to try something new. You don’t need a preacher. You don’t need a special building. All you need is a few friends, a little faith, and this book.
A great, non-threatening gift for those who don't like church, but still like Jesus.
