From the author of Walking Around Target All Winter comes a charming, if somewhat disturbing, story of a dysfunctional family and their misguided attempts to stay afloat in our polarized, tribalistic world.Maury and Jill Berg are fleeing the safe harbor of Bear Lake, Minnesota, determined to make a fresh start in Florida. But it’s not any of the “Floridas” we know; it’s a spooky backwater on the Georgia border full of mystery and contradictions. They befriend an alcoholic minister, his Christian Nationalist wife, and a former state senator who now raises Chihuahuas. As Jill’s dog, Mister Tinkles, battles a half-ton gator on the other side of the Berg’s back fence, a raucous cast of characters from both sides of the aisle emerge to face off over a referendum that will decide the fate of the town. There’s plenty of mischief and suspicion, as well as a pesky hurricane that travels way too far north. If that’s not chaotic enough, a tragic accident brings the Bergs’ daughter Jenna to the center of the fray, a place she’d rather not be.Walking Around Walmart All Winter shines a spotlight on some of the most relevant issues of our day---tribalism, drug abuse, gender issues, and the future of the Church in America---but its deft exploration of the frailty of family life makes this a book for the ages.©2025 Peter W Nelson (P)2026 Peter W Nelson ロマンチックコメディ 世界文学 大衆小説 家庭生活
