U.S. President Donald Trump appears more invested in protecting the United States’ interests than in exporting its values. This understanding of international relations threatens the Obama administration's international gay rights legacy. Still, any shift in policy with respect to international gay rights promotion will be mitigated by what has already been accomplished. Because of the efforts made by the Obama administration, gay rights are now enshrined in the endeavors of the international community.
