In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - why the world's population is increasing; how many young women go to school; how many of us live in poverty - we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

あらすじ・解説
The team behind How Google Works returns with management lessons from legendary coach and business executive Bill Campbell, whose mentoring of some of our most successful modern entrepreneurs has helped create well over a trillion dollars in market value.
Bill Campbell played an instrumental role in the growth of several prominent companies, such as Google, Apple and Intuit, fostering deep relationships with Silicon Valley visionaries, including Steve Jobs, Larry Page and Eric Schmidt. In addition, this business genius mentored dozens of other important leaders on both coasts, from entrepreneurs to venture capitalists to educators to football players, leaving behind a legacy of growing companies, successful people, respect, friendship and love after his death in 2016.
Leaders at Google for over a decade, Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg and Alan Eagle experienced firsthand how the man fondly known as Coach Bill built trusting relationships, fostered personal growth - even in those at the pinnacle of their careers - inspired courage and identified and resolved simmering tensions that inevitably arise in fast-moving environments. To honour their mentor and inspire and teach future generations, they have codified his wisdom in this essential guide.
Based on interviews with over 80 people who knew and loved Bill Campbell, Trillion Dollar Coach explains the coach's principles and illustrates them with stories from the many great people and companies with which he worked.
The result is a blueprint for forward-thinking business leaders and managers that will help them create higher performing and faster moving cultures, teams and companies.

Phenomenal 🙌🏽
One of the bestt books have read on teams, leadership, coaching and humanity in general.
Bill was a true legend and I hope I can apply his leadership/coaching skills in my life.
Every topic was incredible.
The book was well articulated and the narrator was very clear.
I will be listening to this every year and recommending it to everyone I know🌺

What a brilliant book
Full of common sense. I guess I always find reassurance in books that support my worldview and modus operandi. Not sure if it’s good or bad (i.e. confirmation bias at play), but I’d highly recommend this book to everyone, not just CEOs and Executives.

It's just an homage to Bill Campbell.
Got sick of hearing what a great bloke he was. Very little content, very repetative. Dragged on.

Sounds a bit old-fashioned
it's scary to imagine that advices and situations in this book would have been progressive at one point, particularly the ones involving women. Nice to hear about the silicon valley in the 80s but as a business book it's not as interesting as How Google Works.

Insightful, but only if you dig for it
It has a lot of examples of how Bill coached and approached things. While it is insightful, the insights are still something you have to extrpolate from the stories. It does seem repetitive at times, which makes it feel like a love letter from fans. But this is after all, a book about Bill, so I don't see what people are complaining about.
The thing that bugs me is that the writing seems patchy, jumping from here and there and back. The insights aren't really that interesting when you think about what coaches do. But I do enjoy reading how top level executives get coached. Not sure it was worth the money paid.

An extraordinary life, we can all learn from
I know I'll be listening through this entire book again very soon. in a way the messages it conveys a very very simple and yet they are also so vital in the business world. in truth, unless you live as a solitary hermit on a hill, these lessons can be applied in any sphere of life. the world is a better place for Bill Campbell's Legacy and there is much here that we would all do well to imitate.

Success is about helping others
This book gives great insights in why are current industry greats had and needed great coaching. For you business to be prominent in any field you need the right coaching. Bill Campbell is one of the best examples of these.
Ideal for both leaders, people who care and coaches of any kind.
I have a coach and it is the best thing that has happened to my career.

It’s a tribute, not a playbook
Don’t come here looking for particularly insightful or practical advice - there is some but it tends to be wrapped up at the end of each chapter and could really be condensed into a short paper. As with many such books it’s about trying to bring the insights to life through stories, however the stories are told with such unwavering reverence that they become unrelatable, recognising we are all but mere humans whereas Bill seemingly transcended that (despite fleeting mentions of failed ventures losing huge swathes of venture capital). A more balanced and human portrayal would have made the book more effective as inspiration, but as a tribute from people with a lot of love for the man, it does the job.

Important for managers
A short and necessary tool to enable better management through coaching and care.
There are some important gems sprinkled throughout, I took a lot of notes, and provided some reflection.
I look forward to incorporating some of the suggestions in my own workplace, particularly placing high priorities in the team, and everyone who is in it.
I found this to be valuable and worthy, and I look forward to referring to the highlights as a reminder of where my priorities in the business landscape, need to be.

Great man, good story, average playbook
Bill certainly sounds like a successful, well meaning person. I enjoyed this more as a biography than a business playbook. While there are some good examples and principles to think about and take away, I didn’t feel like there was anything revolutionary. Perhaps the best plays got lost in the authors reverence. That said it was enjoyable and easy listening.

Disappointing overall, you’ve heard it all before
A lot about the coaches swearing and other bland anecdotes, a couple of good points but a general regurgitation of every other cliched platitude. I think the coach would be disappointed in this telling of his story.

Inspiring but not necessarily enlightening
I'd describe this book to be motivational, despite that the author suggests it offers practical actions, I found that the suggestions are a little general and common sense.

Great book
It's warming to read the ways in which Bill Campbell worked with his students. I think anybody can learn and lighten their approach to one of Bill Campbell's and it's evidence enough to see that it's worked for all the many greats he's coached
