“These Feathered Flames is a stunning debut as dark, lush, and captivating as the best fairy tales.” (Nina Varela, author of the Crier's War duology)
When twin heirs are born in Tourin, their fates are decided at a young age. While Izaveta remained at court to learn the skills she’d need as the future queen, Asya was taken away to train with her aunt, the mysterious Firebird, who ensured magic remained balanced in the realm.
But before Asya’s training is completed, the ancient power blooms inside her, which can mean only one thing: the queen is dead, and a new ruler must be crowned.
As the princesses come to understand everything their roles entail, they’ll discover who they can trust, who they can love - and who killed their mother.

a perfect & exciting story!
Loved it!! one of the best books I've listened to all year. a well crafted story with memorable characters and dangerous magic
Good Narration, Okay Story
I listened to this mostly because it’s narrated by Fiona Hardingham, who always does a stellar job with her performances. I don’t really regret giving it a try either, firstly it has a girl who likes a girl which isn’t something you come across often, so that was a pleasant surprise. As for the overall story? It was okay. It wasn’t the most riveting thing I’ve listened to. I mean, I’m not familiar with the tale it is based off of so that might play a role in my 3/5 stars. The ending did shock me though, I guess I thought it was going to end all happy and stuff but I was pretty surprised that this wasn’t the case. Seems like there is going to be a second book. Recommending if you like Fiona Hardingham, magic-y stuff and a “sort-of slow burn” but also “not the main focus” sapphic romance.
